2011 BMW 535i Review
The F10 generation BMW is sleek, stylish, and reasonably fast. The BMW 5 series is a German head-turner that will give any driver an ear-to-ear smile. As with most offerings from Bayerische Motoren Werke, the 5 series is an exquisite blend of luxury, comfort, and performance. The 5’er is the penultimate luxury sedan in the BMW lineup, boasting adequate space and keeping a sporty attitude. With a twin turbocharged 3 liter straight six petrol engine, this is a unit that will rekindle your love for driving. It will boost your confidence on the road while catching the eye of bystanders and gaining you respect among your peers. A unit that politely implies “boss and gentleman” whenever you show up.
Engine, Transmission And Performance
As the name suggests this car is powered by a twin scroll turbocharged 3 liter inline 6. This engine has an output just north of 300 horsepower and torque of 400NM. On the road, this beast of a sedan will graciously glide past anything with ease. The signature smoothness that is a characteristic of inline 6 engines ensures a balance like no other. Enjoy easy pulling all the way to the 250kilometer per hour speed limit (if the roads allow it).
This power is transmitted to all 4 wheels by the signature xdrive system through an 8-speed gearbox.
I assure you; this sedan stands tall amongst its peers in performance, and if let loose, may even dwarf its mates.
Interior, Comfort And Cargo Space
Stepping in at roughly 5 meters long and 1.9 meters wide, this is not a small car. Just like its competitors the E-klasse and Audi A6, this ride is 2 steps away from being a limousine. Even tall folk can enjoy themselves in this car over long distance because, 1000mm of head space is no joke. Both two rows of this car are designed for ultimate comfort. As is expected, the creature comforts are all there.
Timeless interior design and gauge clusters, plush leather seats, buttons where buttons should be, multifunctional steering wheel, you name it!! Its no wonder BMW have not evolved their interior layout in a while. If it works it works! None of that new age screens everywhere and ambient lighting shenanigans some competitors are doing. This car is nothing but a gentleman. I’ll admit though, for the lovers of tech and everything shiny, this car may come off a tad bit dated and boring.
In addition to the above, we have cruise control, 6-way adjustable heated front seats and dual zone climate control. One could almost consider living here, don’t you think?
Big car, big space. 640 kg interior cargo space with a 520-litre trunk capacity. Numbers don’t lie.
Infotainment And Connectivity
Here is where most naysayers will take the most marks out. The interface for the BMW I drive system has been by and large the same for eons. Progressive folk will not like this. But if you value classy timeless design, you have no qualms.
Despite being a 2011 unit, this comes with both apple car play and android auto. There is a touch screen as well as the customary rotary dial and some physical buttons on the center console. All standard connectivity features such as SATNAV, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth come as standard.
Some notable numbers for the audiophiles include a 180-watt sound system and 10 speakers not including 2 subwoofers. Crisp clear music is a guarantee here. Long trips, Sunday cruises, amapiano nights, this system shall not disappoint.

See you there!!
